About Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana

BJS Overview

Bharatiya Jain Sangathan (BJS) is a voluntary organization (NGO) operating in the Social Development and Disaster Response space across the country.

Envisioned and founded by Mr. Shantilal Muttha, a Social Entrepreneur, BJS started its journey in the year 1985 in Pune, Maharashtra, and gradually built up its nation wide organization and network of volunteers dedicated towards addressing the various national concerns.

With its presence across length and breadth of the country, BJS today is truly a National Organization having its head-quarters at Pune. Its core strength is the nation wide network of volunteers backed by a team of professionals analyzing issues and concerns, generating ideas and alternative meaningful solutions, creating route maps for implementation of the planned action and executing those for time bound, result oriented and effective delivery.

The World Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (WANGO) an apex body has recognized and rewarded BJS with the WANGO Award as the world's best NGO for 2005. This is indeed recognition of the exemplary work that BJS has carried out till date and an encouragement for it to perform even better in the days to come.

BJS was felicitated on 11 December 2013 with the prestigious ICHL (International Conference on Hybrid Learning) 2013 Award by IIM-RAIPUR (Indian Institute of Management) & NDMA - NEW DELHI (National Disaster Management Authority). The awards were under four categories – Early Warning and Dissemination; Disaster Preparedness; Search, Rescue and Evacuation; and Post-Disaster Relief Operations, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction. BJS is proud to be the only non-governmental organization to have been so awarded.
